Abstract 

Health because of outcomes research is the key to knowing not only what quality of care can be achieved but also how it can be achieved. When the care that patients receive is linked with the outcomes they experience, outcomes research can become the key to developing better ways to monitor and improve the quality of the nursing care that is provided. This article will assist the reader in gaining a basic knowledge of health outcomes research and its implications for nursing research.
